What's Behind Florida Mermaid Musings?

A million years ago I created the Florida Mermaid Musings FB page to promote my blog. But I rarely write blog posts. My last post was about grief. I was grieving for a lost relationship and lost loved ones. (It's still there, grief never goes away. It's just easier to hold now.)

I have battled depression and anxiety my entire life. In a previous blog I talk about my addiction to self-help books. They carry me for a while and then I slip again.

One day I was scrolling FB and saw a snippet of inspiration. Just a little post of encouragement from a person I don't know from a place I've never been. It made me feel a little happier and I didn't have to read a whole book!

I know I'm not alone in my up-and-down life. I am ecstatically happy, full of self-doubt, grateful, hate my body, love my sense of humor, overworked/overwhelmed, excited about the future, exhausted, joyful.

I know I'm not alone. That's why I post encouragement and inspiration on my Florida Mermaid Musings FB page every day. If you see them I hope they help, even a tiny bit.

Some of you want to know more about me, the mermaid behind the posts. My very first blog was my autobiography and I didn't even bother to go back and read it because I'm not that person anymore. Like you, like everyone, I evolve and grow and change as I swim through life. We are a creation of what life gives us and what we choose to do with it.

As of now, today, I am still a mermaid, proofreader, writer, dreamer. I live in a small Florida town and have a small but wonderful circle of friends.

During the pandemic work was slow and a friend and I decided to open an online women's clothing boutique. We thought it would be a fun doing something we both loved - buying and shopping.

My partner bailed almost before we got started. I was left with a crash course in web design, marketing, social media, photography, bookkeeping, learning the behind-the-scenes of the boutique world, and oh, my god, the worst thing ever, taxes. And I was alone. Now I am fortunate to have my sister as my partner. My husband and best friend are amazing. Clover Lake Boutique would not be alive today without them.

So now I am following my own advice. The bits of wisdom I share with you all on a daily basis. I am going to focus on the fun part of owning a business, I have cut my workload so I have more time with family. I am not going to take life too seriously - I'm not going to get out alive anyway. And I really want to thank you, Dear Reader, for following Florida Mermaid Musings. I hope my posts make your day a little bit brighter. I read and appreciate every comment. I see you and you are loved.

If you would like to check out my boutique it's cloverlakeboutique.com, you can follow it on FB too. @cloverlakeboutique  :)

Just keep swimming.

P.S.  I promise to write more often.
